Time really does fly.

Today, walking back to the office from lunch down the street, i realized that i have been living and / or working in Damansara Perdana, on the same street for 5 years plus... Thats a really looooong time. To me. Then, it made me think that maybe isn't that long at all.
My Aunt (Congratulations, Tans!) has just been awarded with a 25 year long service award for being with her employer. Now, THATS a long time.
5 years in perspective, now seems like I am just getting started here.
Its amazing how different people have different perspectives on things. I've always known that - but i never realized HOW different. Now in my typical schizoprenic manner, i am talking about something else. You think that similarities should be more. That common sense should be the basis for most judgements and actions. But then - you realize suddenly (as i did) that common sense in itself, is due to perspective. And if perspectives differ.... then....
You see where I am going with this?
Which then leads me to - who's to judge? Who's to say? Of course spiritually I know the answer to that question. Practically though - i am now beginning to maybe step back and think. Maybe things are never really as they seem - nor should they be what you think they are - and if they aren't - who's to say that that's wrong. Right?

Right.

So enough about being cryptic.

I also thought today on my way back from lunch, how lucky I am.

How truly blessed.

I have an amazing family. An amazing family support system. An amazing group of friends. I am not stuck in a dead end career. Amazing opportunities. And in short, an amazing life.

That leaves me with not very much to complain about actually.

Now, its interesting - the walk back to my office couldn't have taken me more than 5 minutes - and that's with a stop at the grocery store to pick up a packet of milo nuggets. And yet, my thoughts in those short five minutes seem to have covered quite a wide range of topics, no?

Interesting.

Anyways, its one of those days where i have NO client meetings (strange, but True!), its raining and dark (read cold and cozy) and i wish i could be at home snuggling up with Aydin (as if he'd let me!).

He is really just getting too cute and too naughty for his own boots! The other night i "caught" him negotiating with his daddy ryan on how hard and WHERE he wanted his punishment to be. He now negotiates which wall he wants to face during time out and he negotiates how long.

Ry and me watched videos of Aydin through the months the other night. Seems like only yesterday he was going Brrrrr Brrrrrr Brrrrr and now, he is negotiating time outs. Amazing. Truly amazing how kids grow.

The other day he accompanied for my manicure and pedicure. And now, at night, he gives me a pedicure himself! Its too cute!

Anyways - best get to work now..... Hopefully it won't be another 2 months till my next entry! xoxo

Entry #3

I need to find a more creative way to title my blog. I am back from Mumbai. My throat hurts - which is always the first sign for me that i am about to get sick - and / or that I am physically very very tired.

In the office today and then off again tmrw. Its a good thing its pretty quiet this month re work and it all works out that i can be away so much. I have never taken this much leave in such a short time before.

Oh well.

Anyways, Mumbai was certainly an experience. I suppose because it was monsoon season it wasn't as hot as i expected it to be. But it was certainly very muggy.

There is a certain vibrancy to Mumbai - that is undeniable. And the sights and sounds are really stimulating. Being the party pooper that I am, i didn't get to experience the Mumbai nightlife. (Sorry A&A. Next time maybe!) But i am assured that it is amazing. I have no doubts. It seems like Mumbai is a city of extremes, and that there are very few in betweens.... So maybe its a good thing i didn't do the night life. I may not have been able to handle it!
It was a very interesting trip though. You know, i am a bit of a voyeur - and i love looking into other people's lives. I often wonder what someone else in another country is doing at the exact same time that i am doing something else, wherever i may be doing it.I love imagining what the insides of other people's homes look like. I want to know what they eat. What they talk about. What they wear, even! And my trip to Mumbai has given me a small glimpse into what that is like. It was interesting when sitting in Auntie M's house for the Mehndi party. It was not too different than being in the house of one of my own Auntie's. I guess that also says something for the host and for the company i was keeping, as it was very comforting and very familiar.

The surroundings of Mumbai however, made me appreciate the cleanliness of home. I also think that there is something to be said for population control as i have never seen so many people in the same place at the same time ALL the time. It was like there were people coming out of the woodworks!

All in all it was a really interesting (and full!) 48 hours.

The next 6 days will be another whirlwind adventure . It will be 144 hours of hectic activities. It will be fun (and as always with my family) drama-filled. Lets hope all the drama will only be of the comedic variety!

I will update more on Singapore and Bali. For now, i am off to clear my table, send my emails and then set off for Part 2 of the Monsoon Wedding Extravaganza.

xoxo

Entry #2

I'm back. Two days running. Not bad.
Taking a quick lunch/brain break. Had pitch presentation this morning and as usual, am now stuck with a splitting headache. There has to be a better way to manage stress, right?
Anyways... Aydin was very angry with me yesterday. I think its because he doesn't understand why I am not spending my whole day with him anymore. After our holiday - its back to seeing me for just a couple of hours in the morning and again at night, and i guess its just not enough.
He'll be really angry with me for leaving him to go to Mumbai this weekend then.. but i have no choice! I would bring him if i could.. but with the monsoon rains, water, etc..i just don't want my baby to get sick. Its tough. I guess there is always Bali next week....But then when we get back it will be the same thing all over again.
Is this a dilemma all working mothers must face? Why!!!! Dads go to work too but instead of anger they get gratitude and friendship during the time that they do spend with their kids. Why do kids let Dads off the hook so easily. Don't tell me that even kids are ingrained with an inherent gene for sexism - where Mum's are all expected to be SuperMums and Dads are well... Dads.
Not that Ryan is not a great dad. He's as great a Dad as i am a Mum. Yet Aydin is angry with ME. And Daddy Ryan is his best friend. I don't get it.
This morning however, he was quite sweet. I was up early so got a good two hours of playing with him before work. His "Come on Mummy! Sit down! Play!" is just too cute. (Exhausting after a while, but still very, very cute.) And you know, the next day from being mean, he always makes up for it by being sweet. . I know i shouldn't call my son mean. Its not like he means to be. But thats what it feels like. MEAN. And it hurts. Really.
Anyway.. i have to go. My break is over. 12 mintues up. Time to do some work before i leave for Pantai.
God give me strength to resist the shoe section and the Zara sale on my way in and out of there.
xoxo

Entry #1?

I knew i had set up this blog. But i also thought i had at least posted one entry. Huh. I guess not.
So, here goes.
Entry #1.
Its been a pretty frustrating day in the office. Cancelled meetings. Cancelled campaigns. Which just mean cancelled billings. Rude people. Intermittent internet access. The lift wasn't working.... and the list goes on. Its all just too much to bear so i thought i'd retreat and do something soothing and therapeutic.
And well, here I am.
I could rant. And I could rave. But i won't.
Instead i'll focus on the good in my life. Like Aydin.
And how after 4 nights of interrupted sleep and him begging us to take him to Toys R Us at 2, 3, 4 am (yes people, i said A M), he slept through the night from 7pm - 7am this morning. Which meant that Ry and me could sleep through the night. And while we weren't so lucky as to get 7-7, uninterruputed sleep meant that we both woke up happy, not grumpy. Rested not tired. AND! We didn't snap at each other or grunt irritably at each other while getting ready in the morning. Hopefully we will make it through dinner with R tonight without yawning and without bickering. (Sorry B - for the night before. Really, really sorry.)
I am really looking forward to dinner with R tonight. Am hoping H will join us too. Am kay-po-ly eager to hear how her sexual harassment case is going. (She isn't the victim people, but is there in the HR capacity). I think they should publish faces and names of such people if found guilty. Let them be shamed and let the public be warned. Brave enough to do, brave enough to face the consequences. Right?
I am dying for Cathy's banana cake recipe. It is just too yummy. Anyone know a good non butter, low fat but tastes like full fat banana cake recipe please let me know. I've bought the bananas. I've bought the cake tins. I've bought everything.
